LANSING, Mich. — Senate Republican Leader Aric Nesbitt, R-Porter Township, on Wednesday issued the following statement applauding the Trump administration’s announcement that it will fast-track permitting for the Line 5 tunnel project under a federal emergency designation:
“For too long, Line 5 has been held up by the political maneuvering of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Attorney General Dana Nessel and other radical proponents of the far-left’s ‘Green New Scam.’ This extreme ideology has held American energy hostage and taken our nation to the edge of an energy crisis.
“I am thankful for President Trump’s leadership in meeting this emergency head-on and his commitment to delivering affordable, clean and safe energy to the people of Michigan and our great nation. Michiganders deserve leaders who understand the need for an ‘all of the above’ energy approach that will responsibly support our energy independence, reasonable prices and reliability.”
